Series 7 Countdown: Worst Series 6

With Series 7 only 9 days away, my countdown posts of my favourite and least favourite episodes for each series of New Who is coming to an end. Today I will write about my least favourite episode of Series 6, tomorrow shall see my favourite Christmas Special and on Saturday I will conclude with my least favourite Christmas Special. But... with six other days before next Saturday, I will be continuing my countdown posts with a different subject! You want to know? Wait until Sunday...

So my least favourite episode of Series 6 is...

The Rebel Flesh

The 'flesh' two parter has to be my least favourite two parter EVER! But what makes The Rebel Flesh worse, I hope to detail in this article.

NOTE: The God Complex was close in being my least favourite but The Rebel Flesh has a much weaker storyline.

Solar Storm

Apart from Amy turning out to be a ganger, the Solar Storm was the only other point I really liked about this two parter. But the story which the TARDIS crew were given after being hit by a Solar Storm could have been much better than this! When the TARDIS was hit I was really excited and thought that this was going to be a two parter to remember which it was, but not in the right way...

How? Just how?

The main point of this story is the Gangers being able to gain minds of their own after the Solar Storm hits. But how can this happen? This was not explained in the episode and all the viewers were just supposed to accept it, but if you think about it, why weren't we given a proper explanation as to how the Gangers turned into real people?

Not much going on

Another really annoying part of this episode is how not much seems to be going on. Apart from the Gangers gaining minds of their own, basically nothing happens! So overall this episode is quite dull.

Bad Face

The CGI on the Gangers faces when they were half human-half flesh was quite bad. I didn't like the creamy looking faces and felt they looked very plastic-like. They didn't scare in my opinion and they seemed really strange looking and although I wanted to be on The Doctor's side, I couldn't help thinking that the others had a point as I wouldn't be very likely to help people who looked like that!

In Conclusion...

A fairly poor episode with the worst part being that not much is going on! The Almost People was better as quite a lot was going on but I don't think it made up for the fact of it's dull predecessor being well... dull! I did like the mystery in why The Doctor wanted to come here, but apart from that and the Solar Storm, this episode really lets the whole 'flesh' storyline down.

Series 6 was a series which people had mixed feelings about but I feel if it wasn't for The Rebel Flesh, Night Terrors and The God Complex this series would have been fantastic and people's perception of it would be much better.

Tomorrow: Best Christmas Special
