Series 7 Countdown: Best Christmas Special

With Series 7 only 8 days away, my countdown posts of my favourite and least favourite episodes for each series of New Who is coming to an end. Today I will write about my favourite Christmas Special and tomorrow I will conclude with my least favourite Christmas Special. But... as I revealed yesterday, with six other days before next Saturday, I will be continuing my countdown posts with a different subject! You want to know? Wait until Sunday...

So, what's my favourite Christmas Special? Below I have written three good points about each one.

1. The Christmas Invasion - evil Santa's, Killer Christmas Tree and good alien (Sycorax)
2. The Runaway Bride - introduced Donna, more evil Santa's and Christmas Star
3. Voyage of the Damned - Kylie!, Titanic crashing and Bannakafalata!
4. The Next Doctor - another Doctor, Cybershades and CyberKing
5. A Christmas Carol - Scrooge-like man (Kazran), Shark and Christmas Carols
6. The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe - trees, WW2 setting and acid rain!

So which one could it be? The festiveness of The Christmas Invasion, the comedy of The Runaway Bride, the excitement of Voyage of the Damned, the metalness of The Next Doctor, Scrooge from the A Christmas Carol and the widow from The Doctor, The Widow and the Wardrobe are the highlights of the festive episodes but which is best?

So my favourite Christmas Special is...

Voyage of the Damned

Ok, maybe it isn't the most Christmassy festive episode we have ever had but it's the story and excitement that counts and this episode certainly delivered a great story and bags of excitement.

Sto-aways

I liked the fact that this year's adventure wasn't really set on Earth and that the main companion was an alien! The main characters of Astrid Peth, the Van Hoffs, Mr Copper, Bannakaffalatta and Rickston Slade were all their own and very cleverly thought up by RTD. My favourite has to be the innocent Mr Copper who after all his hard work in life, has finally been awarded with a house (with doors and windows!).

Not so Heavenly Hosts

The Hosts were great robots as they could be either very deadly or very kind - it justs depends who's controlling them! The idea that they used their halos as weapons was a fantastic idea and the fact that they had many angel-like features about them was very entertaining.

My Name is... Max

Max Capricorn was evil but did provide the Doctor with some comedy material! He was a great villain as he didn't mind who died, as long as he got his money. Also, I liked how he was seemed to be weakened by the fact that all that was left of him was his head. He reminded me of Cassandra in a way.

The Titanic Crash

If your going to have an episode with the Titanic it has to go wrong sometime! The episode was pure excitement during the time when the ship was about to crash and I loved how it was about to crash into Buckingham Palace. Pure genius!

In Conclusion...

A very exciting and memorable episode with the only down point being, it wasn't that Christmassy! But that can be forgiven as the episode was genius and is one of my favourite's... ever!

Tomorrow: Worst Christmas Special
