Rumours

  • Snowman - 2012 Christmas Special
  • Ice Warriors - Unknown which episode
  • Zygons - Unknown which episode (Caroline Skinner when hinting about return of Zygons may have been referring to their minor part in The Power of Three. This is unknown as they might play a larger role in another Series 7 episode)

Writers

  • Steven Moffat - (5 episodes: Asylum of the Daleks, The Angels Take Manhattan, Christmas Special, Episode 6 and Episode 13)
  • Chris Chibnall - (2 episodes: Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and The Power of Three)

Steven Moffat has said that their will unlikely to be any two-part stories this year. Series 7 would then become the first series in the history of Doctor Who to feature only single episode stories.
Also, as all writers have been confirmed, it seems like almost certain their will be no two-parters this year.

Episodes

Part 1

1. Asylum of the Daleks - by Steven Moffat

First Broadcast: 1st September 2012
Kidnapped by his oldest foe, the Doctor is forced on an impossible mission – to a place even the Daleks are too terrified to enter… the Asylum. A planetary prison confining the most terrifying and insane of their kind, the Doctor and the Ponds must find an escape route. But with Amy and Rory’s relationship in meltdown, and an army of mad Daleks closing in, it is up to the Doctor to save their lives, as well as the Pond’s marriage.

2. Dinosaurs on a Spaceship - by Chris Chibnall

First Broadcast: 8th September 2012
An unmanned spaceship hurtles towards certain destruction – unless the Doctor can save it, and its impossible cargo… of dinosaurs! By his side a ragtag gang of adventurers; a big game hunter, an Egyptian Queen and a surprised member of the Pond family. But little does the Doctor know there is someone else onboard who will stop at nothing to keep hold of his precious, prehistoric cargo.

3. A Town Called Mercy - by Toby Whithouse

First Broadcast: 15th September 2012
The Doctor gets a Stetson (and a gun!), and finds himself the reluctant Sheriff of a Western town under siege by a relentless cyborg, who goes by the name of the Gunslinger. But who is he and what does he want? The answer seems to lie with the mysterious, Kahler-Jex, an alien doctor (yes another one!) whose initial appearance is hiding a dark secret.

4. The Power of Three - by Chris Chibnall

First Broadcast: 22nd September 2012
The Doctor and the Ponds puzzle an unlikely invasion of Earth, as millions of sinister black cubes arrive overnight, almost like presents falling from the sky. But what are they, what’s inside them and most importantly, who sent them? With the international community at a loss, it’s left to the Doctor to unearth who is behind the mystery.

5. The Angels Take Manhattan - by Steven Moffat

First Broadcast: 29th September 2012
The Doctor, Amy and Rory visit modern-day New York. But the Weeping Angels are lurking here too. When one of the TARDIS crew is zapped back to 1938, Amy discovers that time can’t always be rewritten, not once it’s written in stone.

13. Episode 13 by Steven Moffat

  • Series finale
  • River Song is definitely confirmed to be re-appearing sometime in 2013 and as most of the opener has been filmed and baring in mind that she is almost 100% likely to appear in a Moffat episode, the Series 7 finale seems our safest bet as to when she will be returning. Also, it is highly doubted that information would be released regarding the 50th anniversary, so this also goes in the favour of her appearing in this episode.
